Kirinda temple was built by king Kawanthissa. Kirinda temple can be easily spotted from distance, due to the recently constructed standing Buddha statue. The temple stupa is located the top most position of the premises. We need to climb up to reach the temple premises. According to the historical records and stories, some believe that Kirinda is the place where prince ‘’Viharamahadevi’’ drifted ashore. Kirinda temple is one of the very ancient temples situated Kirinda.
